#OccupyBoG : Who is Ernest Addison

#OccupyBoG has been trending on X( formerly Twitter) as protesters prepared to storm the premises of the Bank of Ghana on the 3rd of October, 2023 to demonstrate on the harsh economic conditions gripping Ghana.

There seems to be a wave of protests sweeping Ghana as the youth of the country are being more vocal about their grievances about the current economic state of the country.

#OccupyBoG is the second trend of protests and the 4th in two weeks, which is quite alarming. #OccupyJuolorbiHouse was carried out from the 21st to the 24th of October at the premises of the Jubilee House. From social media discourses, it appears the last has been seen of the protests as the youth appear vamped up to continue protesting until their concerns are addressed.

Pressure groups and opposition parties are also riding with the wave of protests with suspected intentions.

Ernest Addison, the governor of the Bank of Ghana is the principal addressee of this new wave of protests as the youth believe he is one of the many villains responsible for the economic hardships in the country.

Ernest Addison was born in 1963 and is currently 60 years old. He is allegedly married with children.

Ernest Addison is currently the governor of the Bank of Ghana, a position he assumed in 2017 under the Akuffo Addo Government. He is an economist by profession and a banker by occupation.

He has held notable portfolios in institutions like the IMF and Cocoaboard amongst others.
